The project consisted in construction of several blocks of new Riverwalk connecting the flood gates of the downtown loop. Robey Architecture offered the Drury Hotels the experience necessary to plan and design several blocks of downtown “streetscape”, although on river level.
The planning of the Riverwalk extension emulated the original designs by Hugman and respectfully embraced the nodes, focal points, and connections to the surrounding businesses. What was once an inaccessible drainage channel now is revitalized; offering a connection for tourists to bridge the gap between central and west downtown- seamlessly integrating with the surrounding historic commercial pedestrian “streets.”
